Heavy tube behaves differently from thin-wall stock, and this footage follows an automatic straightening machine for tube configured for large diameters and thick walls. A reinforced bed, oversized rollers and a high-force hydraulic circuit deliver the bending moment thick-walled tube requires, while speed and pressure are dialed back to keep the surface clean and the section round.
The machine handles the upper end of the Ø5–600 mm range and tubes up to 12 m long, with supports staged along the bed for the heavy workpiece. Probe arrays use 5+ points on long beds, each heavy tube completes in a 20–90 second cycle, and straightness settles at 0.10–0.30 mm/m — repeatedly, part after part, without operator judgment.
Heavy-wall tube from this machine goes into pressure vessels, piling and foundation work, structural columns, marine and offshore fabrications and large hydraulic cylinders, where straight, round tube is a safety and fit-up requirement rather than a cosmetic one. The clip includes a side-by-side pass on a heavy section so viewers can see the bed rigidity and the staged supports moving into position before the ram applies force.
