This video shows an automatic round steel straightening machine handling hot-rolled and cold-drawn round bars in a continuous flow. Bars travel through inclined straightening rollers that rotate and flex each section along its length, removing the bends and curls left by rolling, sawing and heat treatment before the bars move on to turning, grinding or peeling.
The machine covers round steel within the Ø5–600 mm diameter range and lengths of 100 mm up to 12 m, processing each bar in 20–90 seconds. Short shafts are measured at 2–3 points and long bars at 5+ points, with long-bed versions carrying 5–8 probes; standard grades are corrected to 0.10–0.30 mm/m, while automotive-grade bar reaches 0.02–0.05 mm.
Steel mills, forgers, shaft makers and fastener manufacturers use it to straighten bar stock for piston rods, axle blanks, gear shafts and guide columns — parts whose downstream machining allowances assume straight incoming material. The footage follows one bar from the in-feed rack to the finished rack, with the control screen showing the measured curve flattening section by section as the rollers do their work.
